Following the 2011 season, Auburn met Virginia for the first time since 1998 in the Chick-fil-a Bowl.⠀
⠀
As bowl games typically rotate the home/away designation by their aligned conferences, Auburn was the home team and wore their traditional navy jerseys.⠀
⠀
Virginia, however, broke out the orange jerseys for what would be Auburn's first color-on-color game since 1972. The Cavaliers also wore an orange helmet for the first time since the 1960s.⠀
⠀
Auburn would play in another orange-vs-blue matchup to open the following season as the Tigers faced Clemson, back in the Georgia Dome for the Chick-fil-a Kickoff Game. The colorful matchups had disappeared from Auburn's history for nearly forty years, only to return in consecutive games.⠀
