A champion in more ways than one ♥️ At the International Football Hall of Fame ceremony held this week, Jenni Hermoso gave an inspirational speech about how winning the FIFA Women’s World Cup meant more than a trophy, more than skill. Referring back to the inappropriate offense taken to her swiftly after the win when Luis Rubiales forcefully kissed Hermoso without consent, she spoke about her team’s achievements in addition to the World Cup. “I keep wondering what we really did that night,” Hermoso told the audience. “We won a title, we became known around the world and became one of the best teams in history, but deep down we achieved something much more human, more transcendent.” While Jenni and her teammates fight for good in this battle of female athlete’s rights, the unfortunate news is that Jorge Vilda (Spain’s former Head Coach) has accepted an offer as coach for the Morocco women’s national team.
