Fire Captain Brad Bemis was off duty enjoying a beach day with his family when he saved not one, but two lives. 🥹 After hearing a group of people yell that their friend jumped off the pier, Brad rushed over and noticed a young man floating face down in the water. His Red Cross lifeguard training kicked in, and he took quick action to help him. "I didn't even question it," Brad said. "I just went and did what I was supposed to do." As he approached the man in trouble, Brad noticed someone else struggling in the water. The person jumped in to help and was now in trouble, too. With the help of an onlooker's surfboard, Brad was able to help get both people to safety. He was awarded the Red Cross Certificate of Merit for his lifesaving actions, the highest honor given to Red Cross trained individuals. He was recognized by the RedCrossSC with his fire squad by his side. We are so grateful for heroes like Brad! ❤️ #LifesavingAwards #LifesavingTraining #WaterSafety #RedCross
