“Project leaders get things done,” says Temitope Ajanaku, PMP. But it can’t just be about crossing off tasks. “Remember, projects are built for people by people.”
She’s learned to lean into empathy and clear communications. “People need to feel safe to air their opinion and also know that they’re heard and their opinion matters.”
Now a technical project manager at Inheaden in Lagos, Ajanaku first discovered project management when she volunteered to lead her team in a coding internship. The experience helped her to “hone skills and prepare for greater challenges.”
And she continues to step up, recently mentoring a group of young women and nonbinary individuals in STEM. “Any opportunity to pass down knowledge and guidance is golden.”
Read more of Ajanaku’s interview, including why she thinks women need to unlearn some habits. It’s all at the link in our bio.
