I played tight end in college and coached tight ends at a Power 5 school.
Here’s why Brock Bowers is so special and deserving of being in the Heisman conversation (before the injury):
Brock Bowers has 200 more receiving yards than any other college tight end.
Before his injury, he wasn’t just Georgia’s top receiver; he was also one of their best blockers. Kirby Smart said Bowers’ blocking is “the most underrated part of his game.”
Despite his impressive receiving stats, he takes more snaps in-line than in the slot or outside.
Of the 27 FBS tight ends with at least 300 snaps this season, Bowers is the only one with a PFF run-blocking grade above 75.0.
No matter the defensive call or if it’s a run or pass, Brock Bowers will make a play.
