Rome Pt 1: The Monuments…well some.
The first photo is the very first photo I took in Rome. We walked along the Tiber river just wandering and it caught my eye.
Photo 2 is the piazza right next to our AirBnB,
#PiazzaNavona . It was a a beautiful Piazza that was relatively quiet in the morning but come lunch time it was buzzing. One thing I learned about the Piazza is that from the 17th to 19th Centuries, they would flood the Piazza to make it a summer lake for the Romans.
Photo 3: The Pantheon
We didn’t go in the Pantheon but it doesnt make it any less impressive. It’s one of the best preserved historical sites considering it was built around the year 25. One of the reasons it was so well preserved is because even though it was originally built for gods & goddesses like Jupiter & Juno until the catholic church took power. Of all the other temples there were, this is the only one to be completely intact.
