Cloudy skies with mild drizzle didn’t dampen the spirits of dedicated giant pumpkin fans Sunday.
Tualatin’s annual West Coast Giant Pumpkin Regatta, which takes place at Lake of the Commons, attracted tens of thousands who shrugged off the cool weather and packed the park to cheer quirky costumed contestants paddling relentlessly around a lake in enormous, hollowed-out floating pumpkins.
The Regatta, which has taken place since 2004 with participants from around the country, also included a giant pumpkin weigh-off, pumpkin bowling, pumpkin golf, pumpkin decorating and carving, a zombie shootout, face painting, a craft tent, food trucks and 5k and 10k runs.
