it’s crazy to think that something called an “eating disorder” can actually have nothing to do with food itself. it’s a mental disorder rooted in something so much deeper.

I’ve recently really started to work on challenging myself in recovery. it’s so easy to get in a comfortable spot in recovery where you kinda stop making progress…. almost like a “recovery plateau.”
i feel like i was in that for a while, then took a few steps back, and now making many steps forward.

i’ve been eating foods that my childhood self used to LOVE and foods i told myself were off limits. it’s made me realize how much EDs can truly be rooted in control. when i challenge foods, or i eat foods that are not considered “safe,” then it tells me i have lost control, i am a failure, going to gain weight, get slow, and lose progress. THIS 👏 IS 👏 NOT 👏 TRUE👏. one thing i once heard was that if the ED says it….it’s probably a lie. and that’s the truth.
