Climate change affects everyone and we need 100% of the world’s population (celebrities and major media included) to get on board if we truly want a sustainable and livable future. But let’s be clear, the climate crisis doesn’t affect everyone equally. Women (especially BIPOC women) are disproportionately effected by the climate crisis. ✅ According to the UN and Global Citizen, women represent around 43% of the global agricultural workforce, but they face countless barriers to economic independence. In 50% of the world’s countries, women are denied property rights, are barred from borrowing money for tools/fertilizers, and are restricted from accessing markets to sell their goods. However, when they’re provided with the same access to resources as men, productivity is boosted which improves total agricultural output by 2.5% to 4%.
