Portland officials have selected a vacant lot near the St. Johns neighborhood as the site for the city’s next mass outdoor shelter.
Mayor Ted Wheeler announced Thursday that the city will open a shelter primarily serving people living in RVs and campers at 10505 N. Portland Road, a remote site along the Columbia Slough owned by the city’s Bureau of Environmental Services.
Officials declined to provide a specific timeline for when the shelter will open, saying only that it would open in “the coming months.”
