Iowans have plenty of odd-ball traditions, and Halloween in the Des Moines metro is a perfect example. Trick-or-treating dates and times are traditionally held on Beggars' Night, in the evening hours on Oct. 30, the night before Halloween. The tradition started about 80 years ago to curb the violence and vandalism that had become an annual problem on Halloween night in Des Moines. And don't forget, children have to tell a joke in order to snag a treat. Tap the link in our bio for more details on Beggars' Night 2023. #DesMoines #Iowa #Halloween #trickortreat #BeggarsNight
