As the war between Israel and Hamas intensifies, misinformation is targeting internet users abroad. Reuters takes a look at some falsehoods circulating widely on social media.   U.S. President Joe Biden did not call for military conscription in the United States in response to the Israel-Hamas conflict in October 2023, as suggested by an AI-generated video shared on social media.   The fabricated clip shows Biden speaking at a podium, saying that he is invoking the Selective Service Act, adding: “Remember, you are not sending your sons and daughters to war. You are sending them to freedom.” However, the video is not only fake, but a longer version of it predates the October conflict.   At the same time, the Reuters Fact Check team debunks another false claim online that an Iranian aircraft attacked Israel.
