Still SO good 🙌
Throwback to sprinter libby.clegg and guide runner Chris Clarke taking gold at Rio 2016 Paralympic Games.
Libby is one of the UK’s most recognisable and respected Paralympic athletes, having won ten major gold medals, including two at Rio 2016. As a sprinter who has only peripheral vision in her left eye, Libby runs with a guide runner while wearing a blindfold.
The guide runner in this video is British sprinter Chris Clarke. Chris faced a setback when he didn’t qualify for the Olympics. But he didn’t let disappointment hold him back for long. He teamed up with Libby and together they went on to win gold!
In the visually impaired sprinting world, a guide runner is essential. They are connected to the sprinter and provide crucial information, like how far they’ve run, their position among other racers, and the strategies needed to win- ultimate teamwork!
