“I just enjoy helping people.” ⬅️ That's why Joseph Misek has been a Red Cross volunteer for 52 years. 🥹 Joseph serves the RedCrossNTX region in any way he can, from responding to home fires and other disasters to supporting military families. But he got his start as a Red Cross First Aid Instructor. In his early 20s, while working in emergency management, Joseph began learning about first aid. After taking classes, he decided to get certified to teach lifesaving skills himself. Joseph taught firefighters and even helped build a mobile first aid station, which traveled to multiple community events. After 15 years as an instructor, he became the head of First Aid Safety Services in his region. Today, Joseph serves the Red Cross mission at all hours of the day and night. If a home fire happens at 2 a.m., he's there to provide comfort and support to the people affected. “You get up in the middle of the night," Joseph said.
