These words are a snapshot into a poem that I have been writing this week. Throughout history, Jewish people have been the scapegoat for every issue in the world. Antisemitism is both ancient and current. Today, we watch as our communities, our friends, our peers turn their backs on us. Today, we watch as acts of violence and terrorism against our people are normalized and even condoned. The left hates us and the right hates us. We are always politically and socially homeless. Right now, people all around the world are taking to the streets to spew their hatred of Jews and the State of Israel. They are calling for ceasefires, they are saying that Israel doesn’t have the right to defend herself. Their signs and chants are reminiscent of times that our grandparents and great-grandparents suffered under. History is repeating itself in front of our very eyes.
