With God and family at the forefront, these six sisters aren’t letting the past dictate their future 👏🏾
After losing their Queens home in 2013, David and Yonette Lawrence encouraged their daughters to think of a future beyond their situation and look into getting an education.
Since earning their GEDs in 2019, the six eldest Lawrence sisters went on to obtain bachelors degrees in public health at SUNY Old Westbury, and are now enrolled in a master’s program in public health at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University. The next stop will be nursing school 👩🏾⚕️
“I’m so happy they’ve done this together. I always tell them, ‘Life’s not fair. And when it throws you a curveball, you gotta adjust to it and keep going.’”
