Some scholars believe that Moses was in his eighties when God revealed himself through the burning bush. He had been in the wilderness, tending his father in law’s flock, not even his own, for almost 40 years after he tried to rescue and defend the people of Israel from the hand of the egyptians. There’s so much in exodus 3:1 alone that we can all relate to when you think of the context behind it.
