To honor #PrematurityAwarenessMonth, we’re sharing stories from our maternity units and neonatal intensive care units (NICUs) at Main Line Health. Hear from Lauren McConnell: “Our son, Finn, was born at 27 weeks in May of 2023. At 1lb 13.2 oz, he unexpectedly made his way into the world at Paoli Hospital and was transported to Lankenau Medical Center’s NICU for a higher level of care. During his stay at Lankenau Medical Center, Finn had such a strong, caring team of nurses, physician assistants, neonatologists, respiratory therapists, unit staff, physical therapists, speech therapists and social workers that helped him navigate his journey of learning to breathe on his own, eat on his own and — most importantly — grow! The team’s gentle nudges to participate in care and support during the scary times was so appreciated.
