Spent a few hours this week meeting up with former oregontf standout from the 1970s and a legend at nike, stevebence. • Steve ran the 800m at Oregon, then started working at Nike in the late ‘70s, helping the company in some of its early contracted factories in Asia, as chronicled in his book, “1972”. • We both met with madebyjase, who was in Portland from England for a week to get some information for an upcoming book that he’s writing on the great Nike and adidas creative designer Peter Moore, as well as doing some research for a documentary. • Jason and Steve were kind enough to sign for me the books that they wrote. • It was quite fascinating to hear their stories about the athletic shoe industry, both from the perspective of an industry insider as well as from someone who’s covered the industry. • It was a pleasure to make a last minute decision to drive down to Portland and spend time with both of you! • #nike #goldenkicks #trackandfield #sportsmarketing #airjordan #goducks #gohu...
