One of the best pianists in the world performed Monday morning for the Canisius High School community in Scaccia Auditorium. Alexander Malofeev, a 22-year-old Russian pianist who has earned international acclaim since a young age, played with the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra this past weekend at its Rachmaninoff Festival. Malofeev – who came to international prominence in 2014 when he won the International Tchaikovsky Competition for Young Musicians at age 13 – is performing on tours of China and Europe during the 2023-24 season, during which he will also play at New York's Carnegie Hall. He made his United States solo debut in Buffalo in September 2021 and made his U.S. full orchestra debut in March 2022 with the buffalophilharmonicorchestra and Conductor JoAnn Falletta.
