Some outstanding artwork at this year’s southendcityjam held in Southend-On-Sea and so nice to see the town (sorry I just still can’t class it as a city!) so busy and alive. But I learnt that the temporary hoardings in the middle of the high street get taken down and stored afterwards ready to be painted over the following year. Now maybe that’s the idea of street work but I think it’s an absolute shame. Surely they could auction them off to businesses who’d like a piece of original art that could then raise funds for something.
