Following Tuesday's special election, voters named Chris Coleman to serve Des Moines City Council's Ward 1 seat. Incumbents Carl Voss, Linda Westergaard and Joe Gatto were reelected to their city council seats. Coleman will fill the vacant post left by Indira Sheumaker. Elected in 2021, Sheumaker resigned from her role in September after a six-month absence and amid calls from residents to step down.
