Since 1986, the Tax Executives Institute (TEI) and San Jose State University have been collaborating on the High Technology Tax Institute in Silicon Valley. As part of our MS in Taxation program, we co-host the TEI-SJSU High Tech Tax Institute; a two-day conference that occurs every November. The 39th annual TEI-SJSU High Tech Tax Institute took place on November 6th and 7th this year, featuring keynote speakers including Internal Revenue Service (IRS) Commissioner, Danny Werfel. A variety of experts shared their knowledge at the event, including Quyen Huynh, Principal at kpmg, Jonathan Dixon, Senior Advisor of FinCEN at the U.S. Department of the Treasury, Joe Fernandez, Partner at Seiler LLP, and Elizabeth McMorrow, Attorney at Elizabeth A. McMorrow Law LLC. Panel discussions covered topics such as the Corporate Transparency Act, recent developments by the FTC, and using AI in tax research, data analytics and research.
