"I'm grateful that in the scariest situation of my life, I knew exactly what to do." During a surprise date to a Tampa Bay Rays baseball game, ultrasound technician Janie Morales used her Red Cross training to save someone's life. Janie was in the right place at the right time — the seats her partner planned to buy were sold out and they ended up near the dugout instead. As the players warmed up, the couple noticed a crowd of people surrounding a man in trouble. "I jumped the seat in front of me, I get in front of this man and he's ice cold and blue," Janie said. She became focused and helped bring the man down to the ground. Janie was the only person in the group who knew CPR and started providing lifesaving care until paramedics arrived. By the time the man was in the ambulance, he was conscious and breathing on his own. "I was just relieved that he was going to be okay," Janie said. "That's all I cared about."
