A new center at the LBJ School of Public Affairs aims to expand opportunities for students to strengthen America’s democracy. The Patman Center for Civic and Political Engagement will shape future civic leaders and advance democracy through education and training at uaustintx and in Washington, DC, thanks to a $10 million dollar gift — the largest in the school’s history — from two married texasexes: United States Ambassador Carrin F. Patman (J.D. ’82) and James V. Derrick, Jr. (B.A.’67 and J.D. ’70).
Beginning December 4th, LBJ students can apply to The Patman Center’s signature Patman Scholars program, which awards student fellows scholarships to offset costs associated with experiential learning opportunities and civic internships.
