Following its 6-2 loss to South Carolina last Friday, the Clemson club ice hockey team is gearing up to rematch the Gamecocks this Friday, Nov. 10, and the Tigers are prepared to best their rival this time.
Last weekend, the Tigers suffered a two-goal deficit in the first period, as the Gamecocks scored at the 13:12 and 17:26 marks for a 2-0 lead entering the second. Halfway through the middle frame, Clemson forward Alex Wallace scored his second of the season to put the Tigers on the board, assisted by Mike McKeon.
With just under four minutes left in the second, South Carolina’s Carson Skove netted his second of the night to give the Gamecocks a 3-1 lead. However, the two-goal difference did not last long, as Cade Heinold found the back of the net with two minutes left to decrease South Carolina’s lead to one.
Unfortunately for the Tigers, the Gamecocks scored three more times in the third period for a 6-2 final. Despite this result, the Tigers know where improvement is necessary ...
