Our staff is in Kenya for the INC-3 Global Plastics Treaty this week - follow along to learn more about the #plasticpollution crisis. What is the INC-3? It's the third session of the Intergovernmental Negotiating Committee to develop new global agreement to combat plastic pollution, a.k.a. the #globalplasticstreaty. Every year, billions of pounds of plastic end up in the world's oceans. Studies estimate there are now more than 170 trillion pieces of plastic in the world's oceans. The problem has grown into a crisis. The Global Plastics Treaty would regulate all aspects of the life cycle of plastic, including the kinds of chemicals that go into it and whether it’s easily recyclable.
