Affectionately known as Dr. G, our Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs began her career path as a first-generation student. With 25+ years of experience in higher education, she’s made it her mission to enhance the student experience, giving special attention to promoting diversity and inclusion in all aspects of campus life. She immigrated to the United States from the Philippines at 10 and grew up in a tight-knit, multicultural community in California. Her parents’ hard work in the service industry (her mom recently retired after working as a waitress for 50 years) deeply ingrained in her the principles of diligence, work ethic, and giving back to the community. Her family also instilled in her the value of education, and she’s always aspired to pursue a college education. With a strong desire to attend college but limited knowledge of the process, she received guidance from her high school college counselor, Mr. Woods, who helped her secure a scholarship and a transformative colle...
