#OnThisDay in 1907, Gila Cliff Dwellings National Monument was established. Many years before this presidential proclamation, amidst the enchanting Gila Wilderness in New Mexico, a hunter-gatherer community crafted dwellings within the natural caves of Cliff Dweller Canyon. They were the Mogollon Culture, an ancient American Indian group merging hunting, gathering, and farming in their way of life. When exploring the caves, you can see pictographs on the walls!
