If you look at Dabo Swinney and Nick Saban on the surface, they don’t have much in common. Saban comes across gruff, sometimes grumpy, all business, and all about accountability. Dabo comes across fun, sometimes goofy, full of positivity, and all about energy. What they DO have in common is a complete commitment to their respective cultures. Saban does it his way. Dabo does it his way. Each of them successfully. Even though they’re different style coaches creating different kind of cultures, they both work. They both use culture to execute at elite levels, again and again, in the college football environment. Their way. If you’re in a position to create and build culture, don’t try to copy someone else’s. Build your own. Choose a culture and commit to it in any style or format that fits you.
