BREAKING: Three Mariners players finished with votes in the top 10 of American League MVP voting.
centerfielder Julio Rodríguez finished 4th in AL MVP voting. Taking that fourth place finish and adding it to his 7th-place finish last season, those two results trigger the first of his contract escalators. His '30 club option is now 8/$240M, as opposed to the original 8/$200M. With that 4th place finish, Julio becomes the first Mariner since Robinson Cano back in 2014 to earn a Top-5 spot in AL MVP voting and the first to be in the Top-4 since Ichiro was a 1st place winner in 2001 and in the same year Bret Boone was 3rd.
Shortstop J.P. Crawford received one for 9th place and three for 10th. Crawford is one of five AL shortstops to receive an MVP vote this season.
Catcher Cal Raleigh tallied one for 10th, making him the first catcher in Mariners history to receive an MVP vote.
