Lewis Central’s football players know what it’s like to hoist the Iowa high school football championship trophy over their heads.
The Titans did it two seasons ago, in 2021, when the school won its first Class 4A state title in program history. A year later, the Titans worked their way back to the championship game, where they lost to Xavier.
“I think 15 minutes after the Xavier game last year, we said, ‘Hey, we’re not going to feel like this again at the end of the year,’” said Lewis Central senior Curtis Witte.
