Did you know that first-year students can conduct summer research? The Center for Engaged Learning awarded a Veritas undergraduate research grant to math major Sarah O’Connor ‘26 for her project analyzing negative stereotypes of mathematicians in popular culture.
She was mentored by Olga Limnios, Ph.D., visiting assistant professor of English, and her father, Kevin O’Connor, Ph.D., assistant professor of secondary education. This award helped her gain research experience early in her college career. She also compiled resources on the topic that will help others continue exploring the topic.
