Today, in honor of #WorldPrematurityDay, read Ashley Kempa’s story: “World Prematurity Day is an important day in the Kempa household as we reflect on a chapter in each story of our three young daughters. In 2019, we found out at 13 weeks that we were expecting Mono Mono twins. At 24 weeks, I was admitted to Lankenau Medical Center and I delivered the twins, Grace and Brynn, at 28 weeks. Weighing only 2lb 5oz and 1lb 15oz each, we knew we had a long road ahead of us. We hoped for steady progress and tried to keep positive on the days when a setback occurred. It was an overwhelming experience to understand and witness the challenges your tiny new babies needed to learn and endure — breathing on their own, maintaining their body temperature, learning to eat and much more.
