Debby organized the Quilt Angels at the RedCrossCentralCA region 20 years ago. This compassionate group of volunteers provides personalized, handmade quilts to veterans, families of fallen service members and people who have experienced a disaster.
“I make those quilts with the purpose of bringing people together,” Debby said. "It's a hug for someone having the worst day in their life. You are giving them a little piece of hope and inspiration to carry on."
No two quilts are alike. All the materials used in making each one are donated and repurposed. Debby has been involved in the creation of specialty quilts including pads for service dogs and quilts designed for children with autism, featuring a variety of colors, weight and textures. The comfort that the Quilt Angels provide is something that is never forgotten.
