This baby humpback whale calf was busy frolicking, having a ball. I went to Alaska in search of Humpback whales bubble net feeding. I was out of luck to see this phenomenon, but to see these whales so close, there were times they came up and we wondered if they would tip our boat over! Humpbacks are huge! Bigger than a school bus! Mature whales are 60 to 80 ft long, weigh in about 70,000 pounds. The crazy part is they eat the smallest life in the ocean: krill, plankton and small fish! They migrate to Alaska and polar region during the summer season when the waters are full of an abundance of food. Bubble net feeding is amazing, it takes a group of whales to cooperate and usually led by a female. This s a complicated and highly synchronized effort that demonstrates high biological intelligence. #humpback #humpbackwhale #whales #whalebreaching #wildlife #breachingwhale #missed #bubblenetfeeding #sonyalphafelmale #alaska #juneau #wildlifephotographer #migration #underwaterlif...
