Denver Zoo is mourning the loss of Sabi, an 11-year-old African lion, who was euthanized Wednesday. The zoo said Sabi was being treated for several chronic health conditions: hydrocephalus, kidney failure, and severe arthritis. Due to the progression of those conditions and the results of recent bloodwork, her prognosis for recovery and return to a good quality of life was poor, according to the zoo.
