There were so many disgusting replies to my tweet about Canadian women getting access to free contraceptives such as the birth control pill, IUDs, etc. to better control our future that I am now more confident than ever that this is a brilliant idea.
Also, side note...this is a big step in the right direction for women's healthcare, beyond just preventing unplanned pregnancies.
"The benefits of providing free prescription contraception extend beyond preventing pregnancy and can include benefits for women who aren’t sexually active. Some forms of prescription contraception are also used to treat several painful and debilitating conditions common in women, such as
#endometriosis (a condition where tissue similar to the lining of the uterus grows outside the uterus) and polycystic ovary syndrome, or
#PCOS..." -The Conversation [I would also add
#fibroids and
#anemia to this list.]
