Our last #WomensHistoryMonth feature celebrates Helen Hicks. Hicks was born in Cedarhurst, New York, and had a successful amateur career, winning a trio of New York State Women’s Amateur titles and the 1931 U.S Women’s Amateur.
She played on the first U.S Curtis Cup team in 1932, and in 1934, became one of the first women to turn professional. Hicks went on to win two professional tournaments that are now considered major championships.
In 1950, she was one of 13 women that founded the lpga_tour. What an incredible impact she had on the game!
