Last night’s WNBA draft was truly magical. Something I keep hearing is that ‘women’s basketball is exciting now.’ That’s NOT the truth. Women’s basketball has ALWAYS been exciting, but now the attention and the eyeballs are finally meeting the immense talent. This is not new. And it’s amazing to see the role that players like the one and only Caitlin Clark, Angel Reese, Cameron Brink, Kamilla Cardoso and so many more have played in that elevation. As well as players that will be drafted in the near future like Juju Watkins and Paige Bueckers. And of course the plethora is legends, trailblazers, and generational talent that have come before them. Watching these women achieve their dreams was one of a kind. Primarily covering men’s leagues hasn’t given me the gift of tapping in to the women the way I’d like to, but I’m so happy that has changed.
