Happy #NationalBagelDay!
Bagels have a dense history. With massive Polish-Jewish immigration in the 1800s, bagels came along for the ride and then firmly entrenched themselves in New York City where they thrived. Bagels were an instant hit. However, it wasn't until the mid-20th-century where automation and bread slicing made mass manufacturing much more efficient, and thus, bagels became what we know them to be today.
