On This Day: February 5th
In 1922, the Final round of the first-ever Texas Open was played.
This has ties to two of our members. One, the tournament was hosted at the Class of 1992 Registered Historical Course, Brackenridge Park. And two, the Class of 1991 Pioneer inductee, John Bredemus. Bredemus was Texas’ first resident golf course architect who helped bring the Texas Open to life.
The event it is the third oldest pgatour tournament, behind only the BMW Championship (formerly the Western Open) and the RBC Canadian Open.
Please see the link in our bio for more information on John Bredemus in his digital museum exhibit.
