In 1991, the @usga established the P.J. Boatwright Jr. Internship Program. This program is designed to give experience to individuals who are interested in pursuing a career in golf administration, while assisting state and regional golf associations in the promotion of amateur golf, on a short-term, entry level basis. We want to highlight each of our Boatwright interns over the next several weeks. First up is Charlie Martindale of Austin, Texas. He’s working in our Championships department and learning what it takes to run events in the industry. After graduating from Texas A&M, Charlie hopes to find a job working in operations for a major league sports organization. His most memorable part of the internship so far was working the Texas Amateur. “It was great to to see so many talented amateur golfers and work at a fantastic country club during the largest event the TGA puts on each year,” Charlie said.
