In 1888, the game of football looked much different from how you see it today. #TBT 🕰️ For starters, gameplay and equipment have evolved so much considering that the game was largely a game of kicking and many other strange rules. At this time, throwing the ball or carrying the ball wasn’t allowed. This was quite the league for kickers back then. For equipment, even the uniforms in this photo were very close if not exactly what these rufootball players wore for the games. For example, helmets weren’t mandatory in collegiate football until 1939 and in the NFL until 1943.
