Finally, it's true that the PTPA isn't a formal labor union under the law. This is not a choice the players made or could make, because players have historically and unilaterally been classified as independent contractors. That prevents them from making use of all manner of labor protections, including unionizing. We are actively reviewing challenges to that system. Regardless, our mission and principles reflect the same mission and principles found in unions and players associations across other global sports.
