“Where is the UN today? Why am I supposed to identify my father’s body on Instagram?” Syrian journalist Wafa Ali Mustafa has been searching for answers ever since her father, Ali Mustafa, was detained by the Assad regime on July 2, 2013. Despite the collapse of the regime, his fate remains unknown. Following the fall of Assad’s dictatorship on Sunday, thousands of political prisoners were released, shedding light on the regime’s horrors and brutality. Yet, thousands detainees remain missing. For many Syrians, the search for loved ones continues with desperation and heartbreak. They express frustration with international organizations, such as the ICRC, saying they are failing to provide meaningful support. Wafa still has no news about her father, but she refuses to lose hope. “I have no privilege, and I have no right to give up on my father,” she says. Video: France24
