For the first time in over 30 years, a Syrian-American Jewish delegation, led by Rabbi Yosef Hamra and facilitated by SETF, visited Damascus following the fall of the Assad regime. During their visit, the delegation met with Syria’s transitional government, walked through the Jewish Quarter, and visited the historic Eliyahu Hanavi (Jobar) Synagogue which was destroyed by the Assad regime. As Syria rebuilds, this visit marks a step toward restoring Jewish life in the country and reaffirming that Syria belongs to all of its people, regardless of faith. #JewishHeritage #FreeSyria
