Did you know? Before Rutgers had a campus, the first classes were held in a tavern! ๐๐ป
In 1771, a handful of Queenโs College (now Rutgers) students attended classes at the Sign of the Red Lion, a tavern on the corner of Albany and Neilson Streets in New Brunswick.
Today, graduates celebrate this history by ringing the Red Lion Bell at Commencement! ๐
