Join us as we celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Day. What dream do you have? ๐Ÿ’ญ Dr. King was a Baptist minister who promoted using nonviolent methods to abolish racial segregation and initially gained national attention in 1955 during the Montgomery, Alabama, bus boycott by African Americans. In addition, he oversaw the 1963 March on Washington and created the Southern Christian Leadership Conference in 1957. As a prominent African American civil rights figure of the 1960s, he played a crucial role in the Civil Rights Act of 1964, which forbade discrimination in facilities, employment, and public accommodations, as well as the Voting Rights Act of 1965. In 1964, King received the Nobel Peace Prize. "The function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically. Intelligence plus character - that is the goal of true education." - MLK #RutgersPride
