During a private meeting on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, survivors of detention and torture, along with families of the disappeared and victims of the Assad regime, met with Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa. The meeting carried powerful messages about justice and accountability, and emphasized the need to place victims’ rights at the heart of the national recovery process.
